Let’s think outside of the box when it comes to our electric fireplace designs! While we’re accustomed to seeing a standard mantle with a tile surround and either a picture or mirror above it, there are so many places an electric fireplace can be added to give warmth and style to a space!
Check out a few of the areas I’ve placed them and how I styled them for a little inspiration for your next project.
Dimplex Fireplace Inserts
I love the ambiance that a fire presents in a space. Previously in my space, I had a gas fireplace that would heat up the room I was in when it was on, but it would freeze out the rest of the house. When I worked on my living room renovation, I decided to take out my gas unit and I opted for a Dimplex electric fireplace.
The electric fireplace insert allowed me to eliminate the mantel and still have the TV above. The other great part of the electric insert I used was that it slid right into the existing opening from the gas insert, which made it easy to install and kept the cost down on labor.

Another fun project I took on was the remodel of an old 5th Wheel trailer for my parents. I wanted to add the warmth of an electric fireplace to this space. This was an old TV storage unit that had a cavity perfect for a firebox. With the size perfectly fitting a unit, all I had to do was plug it in. I used the Dimplex 23” XHD Firebox. There is nothing better than cozying up on summer night by a fire, or when it’s raining and damp, playing cards inside beside this beautiful flame.

The one I selected for this bedroom was unpacked from the box, assembled and plugged-in in less than one hour!
